BACKGROUND:

The Referral Network was founded in September 1997 on the belief that there was a need in the marketplace for a professionally managed, Australian based networking organization. The original membership had previous experience in similar types of organizations and found them to be lacking in the integrity necessary for the successful development of such an organization.

The primary aim of the Referral Network is to provide members with the opportunity to give and to receive referrals to prospective customers. Weekly meeting in which each member introduces the other members to their products and services facilitate this exchange. A formal system is then used to record a movement of referrals between members as an indication of the success of the level of interaction that exists between members.

The inaugural meeting of the Referral Network took place on Wednesday, 1st October 1997 at the Coronation Motel, Brisbane, Queensland.
